Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the “Yachting Capital of the World” will host the 55th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 30-Nov 3, 2014. Show exhibits range from yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts.
Magnum Marine is bringing this blue-hulled Magnum 51 — also called Bestia, or “Beast” — to the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, where we will offer appointment-only sea trials, and explain how we managed to achieve a design that tops 70 mph while burning just 100 gallons of fuel per hour.
This Magnum 51 is equipped with twin 1,600-horsepower MTU 10V 200 M94 engines coupled to Arneson surface drives. She has a narrow beam and a deep-V design that, according to the builder, can reach 74 mph. Caterpillar engines are also available.
On board, the yacht has nearly 7 feet of headroom, a queen-bed stateroom, a head, a salon, a galley and a crew cabin.
If you visit the Magnum display at FLIBS, be sure to ask about two new models in development: the Magnum 70 and Magnum 60, both scheduled to launch in 2015. They, too, are being designed to burn less fuel with similar performance thanks to new lamination technology that the yard plans to discuss further in upcoming months. The first hulls of both models are currently under construction.
