It is with a heavy heart that we look at the misery of the world around us: the illness, the death, the fear, the despair.
All of us are affected; we are locked down, isolated and have lost family and friends. In particular, I wish to honor the powerboat genius, Tullio Abbate, the legendary founder of Italian power boating, the king of speed, who sadly died of the virus only a few weeks ago. There is great loss and suffering and we all have one wish: that this tragedy is over soon and that we may escape to a place where there is no virus and where we may be free, safe, and happy again.
I think of the words of Lenny Kravitz when he was asked why he bought a Magnum: “I bought a Magnum 60, so I could lose myself out in the ocean, and leave the world behind.”
We all feel very much like that.
It is for this reason when this pandemic is over, Magnum will organize two Magnum get-togethers, one in our factory in Miami and the other one in Italy, the country hardest hit by this virus, to celebrate our new found freedom, safety, and togetherness!
