Check out Joe Santilli’s review of his Magnum 35.
Dear Katrin,
I first saw a 35’ Magnum Sportfish in the summer of 1989. I was smitten. It took three years of extensive searching, and I finally found one for sale in L.A., California.
I took a week off and went down to see it. I bought it and had it trucked to Seattle in 1992, so you might say I have had a twenty-year love affair with her.
The boat has the most integrity of any boat I have ever been associated with. She is a 1970 boat and you cannot find “spider webbing” anywhere in her gelcoat. The boat does not flex. Over four inches of hand-laid glass in her keel (no chopper gun construction) might have something to do with it.
The waters of Puget Sound can be as treacherous as they are beautiful. The speed with which they can go from “glass” to “oh my god” is amazing, and through it all the Magnum never complains. Just ask the skippers of some of the newer “cookie cutter” boats that have tried to stay with her in really bad weather. She was designed in the 1970s and is still the sexiest boat in Puget Sound, and can still show her transom to most boats her size, in any weather.
Thanks Magnum Marine, for a great ride.
